When I started thinking about my wedding, I really wanted to do something unique and different for my invitations. I really wanted to get our guests excited when they received the invitation in the mail, so I decided to present them in a wrapped box. I think they came out absolutely adorable! It was a lot of work, but so worth it! I simply purchased some jewelry boxes online and used the filler from our Welcome boxes that we had plenty of. I designed my own invitation because everything out there was crazy expensive. I knew I’d be spending more than the average of postal for my packages, so I tried to cut corners wherever I could. My invitation cards were pretty simple, but I kept with the font I carried throughout our wedding and the colors. The mini cards consisted of reception information, an RSVP card, and a details and accommodations card. I grouped the three of them together and wrapped them in twine. I then tied a satin bow around the individual invitations. All of the items were placed in the box and topped with a cover that I had added a custom sticker to. From there, I took each of the boxes and wrapped them just like a regular package with black Kraft paper. To ensure they would stay together in the mail, I had to super clue the packaged where you would usually tape. Take look at the links below to find all the items I used to create!
-Take a mock up vision to your local post office to find out the exact postal cost. That way you’ll have a sense of how much they will cost you. I think I had three stamps on each of mine.
-Be sure to super glue the packages to close them up. You don’t want them opening up in transit.
-Do these over time. Never did I set the expectation to get theses all done in one night. One night I prepped all the address labels, one night the invitations with the bows and mini cards, and one night wrapping them.
-Take a step back and admire your work. These were a labor of love and I couldn’t wait to send them out!
