Getting ready for my wedding was surprisingly a calm and relaxing time for me. I think I finally let go of anything I couldn’t control from that morning on. As much as I can be a perfectionist on a lot of things, how the day played out was out of my control. I knew there would be hick ups and things that didn’t go exactly how I envisioned, and that was OK. To have all my girlfriends with me that morning was so much fun. We all had such a wonderful time getting glammed up, having a few mimosas and just relaxing waiting for the big event!
Today, I thought I’d share a few of my get ready pictures with you and offer any advice for your big day! You’ll see over the majority of my wedding posts, I was very hands on with my wedding and designed and styled everything myself. With the exception a few items.
Ok, onto the morning of! First, as much as it was my day, my girlfriends sacrificed a lot traveling to my wedding, buying their dresses and shoes, that I wanted to spoil them a little bit. I’ve been in enough weddings to know that it isn’t cheap and while it’s an absolute honor to be in a wedding, there’s a lot that goes into it. I truly appreciated each and every one of them. I took them to the spa the day before my wedding for their choice of a facial and massage. We had lunch in the spa and it was a super relaxing day. Just what I needed! The morning of, each were given a robe to wear to get ready. I loved our robes! Steering away from the traditional white, I got myself a black robe. 1. Because, I love anything black to wear and 2. It went along with my wedding colors. My girls were in blush pink. I added a little flair to our robes my ironing on a glitter heart on each of the robes. It was a simple little DIY and just gave the robes a sweet little touch.
My little Mimosas area was perfect for the morning. I made sure I bought my champagne back home before my wedding to avoid the lovely hotel prices. Who doesn’t love a mimosa (or two) getting ready for a wedding? I made the little sign ahead of time by putting Mod Podge on the mat of the frame and sprinkling all with glitter. The sign I designed, I’m giving to you to download for your special day! Along with the little “cheer” tags I added to the glasses. It’s a simple, great touch to any little bar station. See below for the download.
A few tips for getting ready:
1. Drink lots of water. It’s easy to suck down those mimosa quickly, but stay hydrated to look your best
2. Make sure you eat! I arranged to have a restaurant in the hotel bring up a bunch of salads, appetizers and flatbreads.
3. Time management. Be sure you are on track with your photographers schedule. Rushing and being late for pictures is never a good thing.
4. Relax and enjoy the morning of your wedding with your family and girlfriends. To me, it was one of my favorite times of the entire day!
