Good Morning! Thank you SO much for all the love last week on my Fall Exterior Home Tour post. I’m so happy people are enjoying the blog. It’s scary to put yourself out there and I went back and forth for a long time trying to decide if I should blog again. There are lots of insecure moments where I want to quit and hide in my bed, but then I see a sweet comment or someone shares my post and it makes it all worth it. So THANK YOU, I truly appreciate each of you who have liked, commented, shared, or even just visited the site. I really needed a creative outlet to work on my hobby so it’s been wonderful to be able to share it with everyone. I’m excited for the next couple of months. Not only do I have a few before and after reveals to show you, I’m gearing up to share lots of Holiday decor and entertaining ideas. It’s my favorite time of the year and I look forward to sharing with you!
Today I thought I’d give you a glimpse into my living room. I actually decorated this room about 3 years ago, so there are things I’d like to eventually change as time has passed. But, this room has really served its purpose over the past few years and it’s where our family congregates to.
Ok, here are some before pictures of the house before we moved in.
And here’s what my room currently looks like:
So as you can see, my style is very cool tones, very neutral with pops of accent colors. I also love to mix some high end items with some low end items. This rug was what I fell in love with and based the entire room around it. I do love this room because it’s very calming to me. Spending lots of time in there, I really wanted to give off that light, airy, calming feeling.
My living room is pretty small so I had to figure out how to make it pretty and functional at the same time. Luckily, we have two living rooms in our home, so we aren’t always on top of one another. Also, I’m stuck with our steam radiators, so I have to work around those. That alone makes it very difficult to set up furniture, because the radiators can’t be moved… yet. 🙂
To be honest, I have a love/hate relationship with my couch. Initially we wanted more of a lounge couch so we could really relax on and fit all of us, but over the years we find ourselves wanting something with better support for our backs and something not so wide. But, I do LOVE it when I’m watching Netflix for hours curled up in the corner of it. I think this couch is perfect for a finished basement or movie theatre type room, but for my space, I just wish it wasn’t so wide so I’d have a bit more space.
I hope you enjoyed the space and if you have a small space like me, I hope you found some inspiration here. Here are some tips for styling a living room that you may find helpful:
– Start somewhere. I fell in love with my rug, so I based my room around that. You can do the same with a couch, window treatment or simply a throw pillow
-Mix and match frames. I think some people think they can only use for instance silver frames, but adding a mix gives the space a nice contrast.
-Get Creative. The gold sparkly branches are actually from my wedding centerpieces. They are a great accent piece and can be an easy DIY. They make me smile every time I see them!
