I absolutely love what I have to show you today. A girlfriend of mine recently enlisted my help to transform her entryway. This isn’t your typical entryway either; it’s a very oversized one. This could very easily be a sun room, but being the entrance of the house she really wanted it to feel more of the entrance and not a ton of sitting furniture. When I think of an entryway, I think it of two things. First you need a “drop area.” This is the area you place your keys, mail, packages, etc.. Then you need a “sitting area” This would be where you sit and take your shoes off and on. Given the size of the space, I was able to add a little sitting area along with a fun mirror to do a last minute check before you leave the house. Come take a look at this drastic transformation..
As you can see in the before pictures, the space wasn’t being utilized right and became a collection of items. We really wanted to strip it all back and make it very simple, bright and make it pop. With the floors having to stay as is, I really wanted to change the wall color and the trim work. Painting the oak trim to white makes such a huge difference and you’ll see below how much bigger and brighter the space looks. See below for the full reveal 🙂
Look how much brighter! I have a serious crush on this entry table! It’s so beautifully made and really is the focal point when you walk into the space. When I first started designing the space, my girlfriend sent me a picture of the amethyst color accent wall you see here. She loves color and wanted to incorporate it into the space. Instead of doing the entire room that way, I gave her an accent wall and painted the doors the same color. The rest of the room was painted with a great neutral and white trim.
I love when clients add their personal touch to the space as well. She picked up these hurricane vases and the little glitz garland to go with it. It’s a perfect simple centerpiece for the table along with some fresh flowers. The table is perfect for the “Drop Space” I was talking about before. Here, she can leave her mail, keys and any packages she receives.
This little sitting area makes me swoon. With little touches of color and glam, it’s the perfect area to open those gorgeous French doors and have some coffee right here in the morning. You guys know I love my garden stools. They are the perfect addition to any room and my signature piece. How cute would that stool be in an outside space as well?
Can we please take a moment for this chandelier? The orbit globe design is perfect for this large space. I also had it set on a dimmer which I recommend for all lights. Sometimes, the softest lights can make for the prettiest of spaces. Also, the bench under the coat rack is the “sitting area” to put your shoes on and off. I added a little basket to the side for her to put any shoes and boots.
Also, this gorgeous mirror is perfect for the large space. Instead of putting a mirror on the wall, I figured a full size one in the corner would be perfect along with getting a full size look at yourself before heading out the door! (Win, Win)
If you look in the before pictures, this coat rack and storage was actually black. I had it painted the same color as the trim to make it pop!
