As promised, today I’m sharing this gorgeous kitchen makeover with you! This has been a project I’ve been working on for months and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It’s absolutely stunning in person and changes the whole feel of the home when you walk in here now. You’ll see in the before pictures, the kitchen has great bones and structure, but we wanted to bring it up to date and modernize it a little bit. I get a lot of questions about painting your cabinets white. You’ll remember I painted my kitchen white earlier this year and I’m still happy to report they are still in great shape with no issues. It’s basically a 4-5 day process for the transformation. I hire a paint company to come in a take off all the doors and drawers. From there its all about sanding, cleaning and really drying the wood out. Once that step it complete, it’s priming, painting and sealing it all. I’ll do a whole post on this eventually where I’ll let you guys ask questions for me to respond to. Ok, come see this major transformation below…
Isn’t it so much brighter and so pretty? I love it so much! We were able to keep the original counter tops because they went perfectly with the new colors. We also kept all the original hardware, we just spray painted them black. They were perfect to keep because they went along with the farmhouse chic look we were going for. Also, painted the cabinets a two toned color, the backsplash perfectly blends both together making everything look seamless. I love this backsplash!
You’ll notice I had the counter cabinet in the corner of the kitchen removed. I know it’s great for holding your appliances and such but it really makes you lose so much counter space. I also find it to be a little dated, so we removed that and they instantly have so much more room. They have a large pantry off the kitchen to store their appliances now. I also had the microwave pulled out from over the stove and put an actual hood fan above. It really completes the look and really makes the stove area stand out.
How gorgeous is this kitchen??? I’d kill of a kitchen of this size! So prefect!
How much do you love this backsplash? It’s so dreamy.
Remember when styling your counter tops, you don’t need a lot of items. I understand people want their main appliances they use which is fine, but incorporate some decorative accents that make your area pop.
You know me and hydrangeas.. my favorite flower 🙂
I kept with the original table that was here. We just had the table sanded and stained to go with the room. A simple rug and upholstered chair finished off this little breakfast nook.
TA-DA!! I hope you enjoyed this gorgeous makeover with me today! Don’t forget, I promised to share the living room right off the kitchen tomorrow in a back to back post! Be sure to check to the blog tomorrow and see how both of these rooms tie in together. I hope you found a little inspiration here today! XO!
