I’m One of my favorite things I loved when we bought this home was our front porch. I had never had a porch before and had always envisioned having one. I spent a lot of weekend mornings out here enjoying my cup of coffee, and with the air starting to change, fall is my favorite time to do so. Being able to decorate it for holidays has been so fun for me over the years, especially fall because I can fill it with pumpkins, mums and cozy blankets. Like I told you on my interior fall tour, I love to bring the traditional fall colors to the outside of my home. I love the richness of all the colors that coordinate with the trees & leaves. I loved my fall porch last year, but really wanted to add a bit more this year bringing in some hay stack and larger size mums. Come take a look…
I set it up being two areas; the entrance to my home and the little seating area we have. I added a little more this year and I’m loving it!
I love having a welcoming entrance to my homes an fall is the perfect time!
Hay bales add instant “fall” to any setting. An expensive way to elevate your decor.
Try to alternate colors to great an easy flow.
You’ll see my tip below on spray painting! This baby mum and pot cost me $1.70 to make!!
Baby pumpkins are my absolute favorite. I could take 10 of those before one of the large ones! They are just so cute!!

Weather you have a full front porch or stairs leading up to your front door, here are a few tips!
-Don’t be afraid to mix colors. I love to see white & orange pumpkins and multiple mum colors. It makes everything POP.
-Wrap your store bought mum bases in burlap to hide the plastic planter base.
-Lay some pumpkins down and keep some straight up. All the pumpkins don’t need to be straight up. Create some character with some laying down or leaning against others.
-Adding pillows and blankets adds lots of fall warmth. I keep these out in nicer weather and take them in when I know it’s going to rain. Or if I’m having guests over, I’ll be sure to have it out.
-Use hay bales to add some height. These are a great to help had some height to your look. Top them with mums or little pumpkins to add additional dimensions.
-Spray paint is your friend. The mini mum planters were $.70 and I spray painted them navy to match my home. I did the same for the large planters you see with the white mums.
I hope you guys found some inspiration for your fall home decor! Be patient and keep playing with it to get it exactly how you like it! It doesn’t have to be perfect! I’m hosting my girlfriends over this weekend for a little adult pumpkin decorating party (basically an excuse to eat and drink) , I’ll be sure to share on the blog after! Have a great weekend!
