Hi! I feel like I really need to start adding some content to my categories that aren’t feeling the love these days. The Beauty area being number one. When I started this blog, I knew the main focus would be on home decor and the transformations that I would be working on, but I also really wanted to touch some other areas too. I knew I wanted to talk about entertaining because I love hosting people at my home, and my background in party planning from my previous blog I knew I’d be sharing lots of ideas and inspirations on that. A huge hobby and love of mine is makeup and products so I really wanted to add this category on the blog. I get asked a lot by family and friends what I’m using for products or makeup so I thought it would be fun from time to time to touch on this. I am by no means an expert in any of this, just your typical girl who has tried just about every product trying to find the right ones that work for me. I love talking with girls to see what products they use, because you’ll always see something different and get some tips.
I don’t know about you but New England winter weather hits me like a ton of bricks every.single.year and everything starts falling apart. My skin turns crazy dry, my lips beyond chapped and my hair a brittled hot mess. Basically its just my body starving for hydration and completely having a full blown 2 year old tantrum over the frigid temperatures us New Englander’s choose to live in. (Why do we do this to ourselves?) I contemplate daily moving to a warm sunny place that has a legit happy hour. Any who, today I thought I’d share my nightstand beauty squad that helps me get through these lovely winters.
Keeping all these items right on my nightstand make me not forget to use them. I do have a vanity area, but once I’ve washed my face and I’m in bed, it’s so easy to have them all right there so I don’t forget. It’s also a nice routine to get into and can really change the way your skin looks in the morning. It will seem much brighter and refreshed looking. In the event I’ve had too much wine and forget to do my nightly routine, I can tell a big difference in the morning. Lets be serious, it could be the enhanced dehydration from hugging wine all night, but I’ll just say it’s because I forgot to use my trusty products! But really, even on days I don’t have wine and forget I can see a difference of dullness.
Below I’ll list all of the products and why I love each of them! Some of these products I use every night and some I use a couple times a week!
#1: Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil | OK, GAME CHANGER. This oil is absolutely awesome for your skin. It’s not greasy at all and is my favorite product here. It’s a super lightweight oil as well, and dries quickly. I use about 2-3 drops every night and press it into my face. This is a little on the expensive side, but I’ve had this bottle for about a year so it shows that you can take it a long way. I use this during summer and winter.
#2: Coconut Oil | You can find coconut oil in just about any grocery store in the oil section. There are so many uses for this including cooking, beauty, healing, etc.. I’m always learning something new with this product. I use this product for a few things in the winter, mostly being on used on my hair. If I know I’ll be washing my hair in the morning, I’ll take a scoop of this and work it in my hands til it all smooth’s out and I put it all over my hair. You can just use it for the ends to give them some hydration, but just like I told you this New England weather hates me and my scalp gets brutally dry and itchy in the winter and this is the only thing that helps me, so I’ll massage into my scalp. You’re hair will be greasy in the morning and you need a good shampoo to get it all out. If after you wash it and it feels greasy still, use some dry shampoo or baby powder in your hair to soak up and leftover grease. I’ll use this product about once a week! I also use coconut oil on my feet and elbows in the winter!
#3: Loreal Revitalift Night Cream | I could probably get away with just using the sleeping oil, but when I know my face is really quenching some thirst, I use this product as well. This is a thick cream so I use just a little bit, but I add this all over my face. It’s much more doable on the price side as opposed to the sleeping oil so it’s great option for people. This product will be found at any of your local drug stores, target, Ulta Beauty or Amazon.
#4: Lavender Chamomile Sleeping Mist | This isn’t necessarily a winter product, because its on my nightstand 365 days a year and I just love the smell of it. I use this to spray my pillow before I sleep and as weird and crazy as it sounds its just a comforting thing to me. It’s super calming to me and I love it. I wont say I think it makes me to go to sleep or anything like that, I just love the scent it provides and is just my routine.
#5: Nail Cuticle Oil | My Nail beds get just as dry as everything else, so every few nights I’ll add a couple drops to each nail and rub it all in. This really helps to avoid and hang nails and me biting my dry nails. I knowwwwww, it’s a terrible habit. I’m working on it!
#6: Tarte Lip Scrub | Another game changer. I love this scrub! I use this every few nights as well, not nightly. I put just a little on a leave it on for a 5-10 minutes and then wipe it all off. Its be best lip exfoliator. There’s barely any grease in this product so it doesn’t make your lips feel greasy at all. Just super smooth after you use it. Then I’ll just put some EOS regular chap stick on after I wipe it. This will also help with lipstick. When you exfoliate your lips, your lipstick will stay on better. This product will last you a super long time as well so I highly recommend this one.
#7: Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream | I’ve been using this product for a long time and love it. Its another product that will last you a super long time and is very affordable at $18. I was blessed (insert eye roll emoji) with the lovely dark circle gene and have tried just about every dark circle cream you can imagine. I think I was also using super heavy creams thinking they would work better but I was wrong. Someone told me I needed something with hyaluronic acid in the mix and it would help immensely. Hyaluronic acid helps lock in the skin’s own natural moisture without the use of heavy, greasy oils.
#8 Roden & Fields Face Roller | I should have put this product as #1 as it’s the first step in my nightly routine. Before I use any of my products, I’ll gently roll this all over my face. It’s helps bring the natural collegean in your face to the surface leaving your face brighter and full of color the next day. It’s prickly and hurts and little, but it does help. I tell myself it creates mini holes in my face and then gets all my products deep down into my face. Reach out to any Roden & Fields consultants for more information. I do know a few if you’d like me to put you in touch with one. You can’t just buy this product offline.
Wow, sorry for the long winded post. I hope it helped if you’re looing for some product ideas. I have lots more to share on beauty, so if you like this category, let me know below and I’ll be sure to add more content to the category.
