Hi! Welcome to my dining room! When we moved into our house 3 years ago, I wanted everything set up and done immediately. There are definitely pros and cons to that. I also tell clients I’m helping that everything doesn’t have to come together right away. As much as we want everything done in that exact moment, sometimes it’s best to set the foundation and bring the rest in over time. This room feels that way to me. I got the essential and the rest came over time. I knew that I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a dining room yet. For 1, we didn’t have the money to at the time and 2. We only eat in this room once or twice a year! Seems so silly to spend a fortune on a dining room set that you never get to really enjoy. That is why I’m forever happy and content with my Ikea dining room table and chairs. It doesn’t look cheap at all and it’s actually pretty good quality. The table has a leaf for extra extension which is great for the Holidays, and the chairs are slipcovered for easy washing. I know people will say, you’re crazy having white chairs, but trust me, with two kids, countless friends, nieces and nephews I think I’ve had one accident on them. And I simply, sprayed and washed and it came out just fine.
The light fixture is one of my favorite pieces in my house. I recently put the light on a dimmer and fell in love all over again. It looks beautiful in the daytime and nighttime. I highly recommend this light!
As you’ll see through my entire house, my colors are all very similar. I wanted very neutral and light colors with accents of blues.
I have a girlfriend who laughs at me because I love the trellis print. I loved it when it first came out, and I still love it! My rug and curtains are trellis and they are the perfect addition to this space. I accented the room with a great mirror, a couple prints and some little décor. Unfortunately, in my very old house, we are still stuck with steam radiators. Someday, we will have to update the system but for now, I think of these boxes in each room as a built in table to display some décor on. Have to use what you have!
