Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love everything about decorating, baking, holiday parties, being with family and the spirit of Christmas. Growing up my mother always went overboard with the Christmas decor. We would always joke that it was like the North Pole. I have the fondest memories of always be surrounded by decorations that I think it’s been instilled in me from a young age. Today I thought I’d welcome you into my home and walk you thru a little Christmas Home Tour. Instead of having one theme throughout the house, I love making each room different and having themes for each. The kids love the decor just as much as I do and it’s always a magical time of year for us. So lets get to it! Welcome to my home!
Our entryway isn’t that large so I keep the decorations simple in here. The stair banister stands out the most in here. This is a super easy and inexpensive way to decorate. I use very affordable ornaments and garland to achieve this look. I made a simple sign for my entry door. (Download Below) Swapping out pictures with Holiday Signs or old holiday pictures is one of my favorite things to do. I do it throughout my house and its nice to see old pictures from Christmastime. Also, please ignore my non painted front door. That’s only been on my husbands to do list for a solid 6 months. (insert eye roll emoji here)

My main living room reminds me of the traditional Christmas look. I used lots of red and greens throughout this room and it’s also the place for our main Christmas tree. I love this tree because the memories it holds is what makes Christmas what it is. Almost every ornament on this tree has been a gift to us or a meaning behind it from our travels. It’s the heart of the home during the season. The kids get to decorate this one each year and make it their own. We keep it very simple and traditional.

My dining room has been transformed into a winter wonderland and I couldn’t love it more. I’m obsessed with Faux Snow this year and as you can see I went a little happy with it in this room. There is something so magical and peaceful about this room. I did a couple great DIYs in here. I wanted the snowy affect on my candles given the theme of this room so I took my plain white candles and brushed on Modge Podge and then rolled them in Epsom Salt. They instantly gave off that glam snowy feel which goes perfectly in this room. (And they smell heavenly) I also took dollar tree mini wreaths and sprayed them as well with the faux snow. They are perfect size for the candles to fit inside them and perfect table centerpieces.

My other living room has been named the rustic room this year. I incorporated lots of fur, burlap, and plaid in here. I love this room and it reminds me of being at a ski lodge. I first sprayed the tree to give it a little snowy feel, then I used a couple different ribbon sizes to place throughout. I then completed the tree with lots of rustic type ornaments. You don’t have to go crazy with expensive ornaments. I decorate for the holidays the same way I decorate any room. I mix some low end and high end items. For both my side room and dining room trees, I purchased most of my ornaments from the Dollar Tree, Christmas tree shop and Target. Then I purchased a few awesome ones from Pottery Barn, Pier 1 and Nordstrom. This way you don’t spend a fortune on all expensive ornaments. My Tree in this room is tucked in the corner of this small side room. I have a couple of thin shelves behind it that are up year round so I need to add a little something to them. I made these simple rustics signs for each side.

I keep my kitchen very simple because it’s not that large. I need all the space I can get in here, so simplicity is my main goal for this room. The kids absolutely love hot chocolate so I always do a little Hot Chocolate Bar for them. Everything is right there for them so as soon as they are home from school, they beeline it right there. I’ve included some printables below for your little bar. (Sorry, I only had the sign up when I took these pictures) You can print the labels on sticker paper and put on containers, or you can print on craft paper and place on sticks and use them to stick into toppings.

Photography is by the uber talented Rachel Kate Photography. While she’s an amazing wedding photographer, she’s been my little angel taking all the beautiful pictures you see on the blog.
I hope you enjoyed this Christmas tour of my little house and I hope you found some inspiration for your own home! Wishing you the happiest holiday season!
